Wake Up With Carlos Correa's Walk-Off Hit To Bring The Astros Back To .500 For The First Time Since April 6
On May 22, exactly one month ago today, the Houston Astros were 11 games under .500. After this walk-off victory on Tuesday night courtesy of Carlos Correa, the Astros are at .500 for the first time since their second game of the season on April 6 when they were 1-1. They started off 1-0, and that first game of the season was the only time in 2016 that they’ve been over .500 all year. Tonight, Lance McCullers get the ball against Matt Shoemaker, as he will attempt to get the Astros back over .500 for the first time since Opening Day.
According to FanGraphs, the Astros have a 15.7% chance of winning the American League West at this exact moment. Considering they’re currently a .500 team and the division leader is the Texas Rangers, who have the best record in the American League, I’m going to put the Astros’ chances of winning the division at zero percent. HOWEVER! They’re only three games back of a Wild Card spot. Now, that’s with four teams that they’d have to jump in order to secure a spot, but there’s still plenty of baseball left to be played. Ninety games, to be exact. So, there’s still hope if you’re a Houston Astros fan.
